This is a record of *Quilts of Valor created and awarded

Each one created in memory and honor of my daddy,
~ U.S. Navy Seaman William E. Walls ~
a Veteran of
World War II and the Korean Conflict

*Future quilts created to offer a "Thank You for your service" and the long awaited "Welcome Home" to our Veterans and Military Service Members will not be a "Quilt of Valor" due to the Foundation's changes that I cannot/do not support.

#7 - Thank you, Larry!

It began simply....

#6 - Last Man Standing

I joined the Quilts of Valor Foundation last year, one year too late to make one for my daddy, a WWII and Korean Conflict Veteran. Richard, however, is the last man standing among the group - lifelong high school buddies with Daddy. This one's for Richard, a WWII hero, in honor of my daddy.

Designed, created, and quilted by Lanetta's Creations.

Thank you, Richard, for your service!

#5 Quilting Treasures, 2014 QOV Challenge

This one is a little different... I have no idea ~ and will never know ~ who will be the recipient of this Quilt of Valor! All I do know, the award will go to a deserving soul.

When I saw the announcement by HMQS "Home Machine Quilting Show for 2014" ~ I knew I wanted to participate! It wasn't for a prize, but for the end result - a QOV award. And, honestly, because the way fabric and batting costs have skyrocketed, I thought for $20 (the entry fee for the kit), it would give me a good head start on another QOV!

This is what I came up with ...

"A Song of Thanks"

#4 - Welcome Home, Blair!

My sister requested a Quilt of Valor for her brother-in-law, a Vietnam Veteran.

I learned he's a Civil War enthusiast, so the colors in his quilt reflects the era. It was left up to me for the pattern/overall design. I selected the half log cabin on point, with a deep red center - the hearth/heart of the home.

Although I was not at the presentation ceremony, I heard he was overwhelmed when receiving the award.

Thank you for your service, Sir!

And, Welcome Home!

#3 - Thank You, Lemar!

UPDATE! Presented on Good Friday, April 18, 2014!!

Although, to date, this quilt has not been presented - it will be soon! After serving 12 plus years in the Army, the Iraqi Veteran recipient, so deserves this award! I wish I could be a fly on the wall during the presentation!

A successful surprise!

Again, Thank You for your service, Sir!

#2 - Welcome Home, Jimmy

Another, belated, Welcome Home to a Vietnam Veteran! My cousin's husband, Jimmy, and his brother-in-law, Steve, both received their Quilt of Valor during the same presentation ceremony. This was a very special time for our family gathering....

#1 - Welcome Home, Steve!

I began creating Quilts of Valor in August, 2013, in the foundation's 10th year. My grateful journey of thanks and a belated "Welcome Home" started with a quilt for my cousin, a Vietnam Veteran.

Thank you!
Welcome home, Steve!
